The NextGen gateway software is running on an embedded Microbox PC. The I/O on the power generating units in the plant is interfaced by using an ET200M I/O module.

IEC61850-7-420 is an emerging international standard for communicating settings and values from/to Distributed Energy Resources (in short DER), soon to be released.

The NextGen Gateway will be one of the first real life implementations of this standard, which is expected great influence for the future communication with combined heat and power plants, photovoltaic, fuel cells and others.
